Twist Font

by Maria Mathioudakis

The inspiration for this project came from an orange shoelace the artist had lying around the house. After experimenting and drawing different variations, she finally came up with a cohesive typeface. She used the Glyph software in order to perfect what she had done digitally.

The name “Twist” was based off the illusion of the font twisting.

The artist’s goal was having a minimalistic booklet that emphasized her alphabet. In order to make the whole piece interesting, she picked an eccentric colour as an attention grabber that creates a strong statement.

Having the right color was very important, as it ties the whole booklet together. In order to achieve this PMS color, she had to print the booklet on an offset press.
