I AM BECOME

by Jeremy Segal

Immersed within the steady sound of a Geiger counter, this single-channel video proposes a near-future body as one that has internalized nuclear destruction and radiation. With the visual effects captured entirely in real time, I AM BECOME uses video projections to situate humanity as both victim and perpetrator of nuclear devastation. Creating subtle and uncanny bodily disfigurement by projecting images of the body onto the body itself, the piece seeks to explore the ways in which humanity is imaging a world articulated through catastrophe.
