Coffee Table

by Maya Moussalli and Leila Hormozi-Nejad

Our design explores the shape and pattern of seashells. The legs of the table are inspired by the shape of the Button and Baby’s ear seashells. For the Jute strings that we have incorporated, we were inspired by the pattern of the Cabrit’s Murex shell. Even though the organic structure of the shells were our inspiration, we decided to design with geometric shapes. We decided to work with Cherry due to its properties; it is easy to work with and we enjoy the texture of the grain. We used beeswax to give the coffee table a finished end result and a protective layer.
