Bat Roosts

by Isabelle Quach, Maya Moussali, Tarek Ghaleb and Adamo Zinno

As one of the main projects done in DART 391: Socio-Cultural Research and Practice, the students were asked to create a design that relates to flora or fauna. The goal was to create an object that would give warmth and comfort to a living being. The artists decided to create a prototype, 1/3 of its true size, that would represent a new design for bat roosts.

Bats are usually found in northern America, but due to their drastic decline in population, they wanted to create a new living environment for them which would also raise awareness. The project is packaged in a reusable tote bag and a tag comes it as a keepsake to help raise awareness around the problems surrounding bats and their fight for survival.
