About:
I seek out problems and work to solve them through improved communication. Print media, garments, household objects and electronics can all communicate by their nature, through acquired cultural meaning, and through the patterns of their use. I aim to deconstruct these messages and improve the objects. Typography, color and composition are important tools in my work. Throughout my practice, I aim to improve my understanding of their use in order to become a more effective, more intelligent designer.
While aesthetic considerations are important to me, I strive to make decisions based on testing and improving prototypes and materials. An iterative process is more likely to produce a useful, lively design result than a top-down, prescriptive approach. In addition to practical solutions, I place value in engaging humor in my work. An object can communicate on many levels. A lighthanded joke can make the object more inviting for exploration. My goal is to make further engagement worth your while.
