Visions/Perceptions

by Le Lin

Intrigued by Magic Eye stereograms and inspired by The Physiology of Vision by Charles Wheatstone, Visions/Perceptions is an experimental book which pushes the boundary of what optics can do to text.  The human eyes see the world from two different directions, spaces, and perspectives. However, by forcing two different layers of imaging on top of each other to each eye distinctively, a three dimensional effect is created. Visions/Perceptions juxtaposes two texts by Charles Wheatstone and Le Lin, one that is a scientific paper on the phenomena of binocular vision and, the other, a conceptual interpretation on personal memories and perceptions.
