Traces: Fleur-escent is a conceptual interactive artwork that addresses the urgent issues of ecological contamination and data dissemination. While also providing a new mode of visualizing and interacting with political-social-cultural information through an eco-digital reference point.
A biological entity, a flower, becomes a way of graphing human digital interaction and thought, subsuming the data provided by viewers. The relationship between big data and the ecological, often posed in opposition to each other- are indivisibly tied together in a dependant relationship.
Here data represents an absolute introduced to the system. How the biological entity reacts to the environmental conditions creates the dialogue between the digital and the biological information systems. The manifestation of bioaccumulation of toxicants is demonstrated within an isolated system fueled by human interaction with technology.
