Sola
by Samuelle Bourgault & Agustina Isidori
SOLA is a playable experience thought by Agustina Isidori as part of her master’s workload.
It addresses the climate of tension, discomfort and fear experienced by many women in Latin American cities where gender violence is increasingly prevalent. Given the sensitivity of the subject matter, this game strives to achieve the effect of catharsis without resorting to mundane video game tropes such as graphical depictions of violence or trite scare tactics, e.g. the jump-scare. It looks instead to leverage player goals and level design in order to convey latent anguish in players.
