This lamp was made with special consideration for the future life of this object, as well as sustainability. Multiple details were included in the design and materials to ensure that it would be kept forever. It was designed for disassembly allowing any future users to easily take it apart if required. In addition, it is an interactive and flexible lamp with two heads that can point in various directions depending on the user’s need.
The material used to make the body of the lamp is old construction wood donated by a family who kept it outside for many years. The weathered wood was sanded down, cut to size and then stained with a mixture created from vinegar and steel wool. The family’s signature was engraved under the lamp as a thank you and reminder of the material’s history and provenance.
