Doors

Doors is inspired by Thomas Demand’s piece named Abgang (Exit). Abgang evokes a very strong sense of mystery with a very minimalist aesthetic and construction. The familiar construction of stairs, placed in an infinite blank space, pushes the question of where they lead. Doors attempts to recreate this sense with another familiar structure. This project consists of a series of ajar doors in closed-off rooms that serve to replicate the intrigue and frustrations in Demand’s pieces. The open door brings viewers to look inside only to find the intrigue is perpetuated to what seems to be a near infinite extent.
