Rebecca Chriqui

My name is Rebecca Chriqui and I am into graphic and industrial design. Since 2005, my work has involved the creation of books, packaging, identities, space design and object design. In the past I have created experimental projects as well. A prominent feature in my work is its simplicity, but this is not to say that it isn't also complex. When I work with 2D and 3D design, I am reminded that design is not only a means of communication, but also a form of expression. Often times I utilize elements from the past as an inspiration to create new works. In other words, old becomes new, and each old/new discovery adds to my design vocabulary. When things are going well, I am filled with a sense of creativity and sometimes feel the colours black and white suggest notions of irony. I would like to work in a design studio as well as work on experimental pieces following the completion of my degree. This is to say, I am dedicated and enthusiastic about working in the field, but also about keeping my values intact as well. By the way, design isn't just about making things look pretty.
