Stephanie Geracitano

My name is Stephanie Geracitano and I am into the integration of art and design practices. Since the beginning of my fine arts education, my work has involved the creation of interactive, space and sculptural designs. In the past I have created jewelery art as well. A prominent feature in my work is organic forms and when I work with clay I am reminded of my connection to my natural environment as well as the originality of handcrafted objects. Often times I utilize elements from childhood. In other words, an emphasis on creative play and discovery is essential in my work. When things are going well, I am filled with a sense of inspiration and sometimes feel the colour white suggests notions of a blank page waiting to be filled. I would like to design unusual furniture and children toys, with an emphasis on ecological design strategies, following the completion of my degree. And by the way, I've learnt that in the design process, projects often stray from what was originally planned, leading to new and interesting designs.
